All our finalists submitted amazing projects. The quality was very high and we would have 100% backed them all. But we had to pick a winner and the jury agreed two films somehow managed to stand out.
The first one – which we picked as a winner – stands out because it has the most polished script. It manages to tell an engaging story filled with tension, it features a full character arc, and it also manages to both entertain and be deep at the same time.
The second one – which we picked as a runner-up – has a particularly exciting concept and it is an exciting challenge for Matt Jones and Andrea Vanzo, so they are keen on supporting the project even though the screenplay was not judged as the best one.
DRUM ROLLS… and the WINNER is:

A Night of Gharam, written by Hassan Abdulrazzak
Iman, a niqab-wearing woman, is fed up with her cheating husband. At a shopping mall, an opportunity presents itself for her to impersonate another man’s wife. This takes her on an unexpected adventure of self-realisation.
“A Night of Gharam” is awarded the £5,000 cash grant.
…and the RUNNER-UP is:

Falcon Eyes, written by Annlin Chao
Jan, a 14-year-old girl who suffers from face blindness, has developed a unique skill to identify others – by their secret habits. One day, she discovers a picture of a mysterious woman, leading to an unexpected journey accompanied by a birdwoman friend.
“Falcon Eyes” is awarded the colour correction services by Matt Jones and the composition of an original soundtrack by Andrea Vanzo.
