We are excited to announce the winner of this year’s Short Film Fund!
All the projects had great quality stories but, in terms of agreeing which one was best executed, the jury was quite split. Nonetheless, a specific screenplay managed to consistently rank as a top choice for all the jury members. For this reason the £7,000 cash grant was awarded to:
“Muezza“, written and directed by Khadija Khan
An aging Pakistani father cleans out his estranged sons flat, intent on finishing the job – until the life he refused to acknowledge, and the cat his son left behind, lead him to confront what he’s lost.
This script has also been awarded the rest of the awards including in-kind post production services by colourist Giulia Cavina, sound editor Daniel Bodsworth, a festival strategy by Film Festival Doctor, a DCP package, a production insurance package by Tysers Live, a career advice meeting with Libby Gervais at Casarotto, and tax credit education by Unsolicited Scripts.
