Thank you to everyone who participated in our script call for producer Rachel Stander.
Rachel was looking for feature film dramedies with a soft sci-fi or magic realism element, something along the lines of “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind“, “Her“, “Timer“, “The Lobster“, “The Big Door Prize“.
We received over 100 submissions for this call, and 15 of these were flagged by our readers as worthy of the producer’s consideration. Since the genre Rachel is interested in is very much nuanced and influenced by personal taste, instead of selecting the top 5 scripts ourselves, we decided to share the details of all the 15 longlisted projects with her so she can see which concepts are closest to her taste.
Here is the list of the longlisted projects:
- An Axe To Break The Ice, submitted by Stephen Saleh
- Castles In The Sand, submitted by Paolo Taddei
- I Hate You Moore, submitted by Benjamin Gohs
- Kore, submitted by David Hutchison
- Mourning People, submitted by Ryan Quigley
- Ostra, submitted by Gabrielle Névé
- Seahorse, submitted by Zanna Cardash
- Starring Jake Wilkins & Jake Wilkins, submitted by Ed Wiles
- The Change, submitted by Haydn Hades
- The Dead Ends, submitted by Adam Smyth
- The Graine, submitted by Nick Green
- The Man In The Moon, submitted by Louise Monaghan
- The Secrets Inside The Little Flowers, submitted by Olivia Brown
- Unyoke, submitted by Joe Borg
- You Do You, submitted by Vanessa Rose
What’s next?
We expect to publish the list of the five winners of this script call before the end of Friday 26th January. Rachel will read those scripts in full and either meet with the writer or provide written feedback on why she decided to pass on the project.
We are really excited to see which project will get to the next stage, but we consider all of them ready to be pitched to producers.
Stay tuned!
